An Easy Summer
What’s your favorite way to spend the summer? I like to go for a drive to an unknown place, simply following a whim to turn left or right, not knowing where I’ll end up, an activity I like to think of as my own road less taken. I’ve discovered beautiful hills and dales, creeks and ponds, and hidden pathways through the woods. As a nature lover, there’s nothing better than coming across a patch of wildflowers or a bird not seen daily at my backyard feeder.
Where do your summer travels take you? While some of us plan vacations to faraway places, many of us elect to stay closer to home to explore treasures within a day’s drive, and this area certainly offers a wealth of possibilities. Of course, people who are not lucky enough to live in the area come to spend their summer vacations here. Suzanne Wooten caters to locals and visitors alike with
her Woodstock Country Walking Tours (page 39). If walking or hiking suit your fancy, be sure to check out the Green Mountain Club’s Long Trail this summer during the observation of its 100th anniversary. Children will enjoy Summer Days Camp (page 25), and adults can look forward to browsing Crystal & Bark’s eclectic offerings and stunning floral arrangements (page 46). Whether you need an accessory for your coffee table or you’re looking to design a new home from the ground up, Edward and Randy can take care of every detail.
Within our pages you’ll always meet interesting people, and Mimi Baird (page 32) and Trevor Moore (page 54) share their fascinating stories in this issue.
Wherever summer finds you, I hope you spend it with family and friends, doing whatever it is you like best.
Enjoy!
